COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND DISASTER RECOVERY

After a disaster, our team will help you chart a path foward

As a subcontractor, NMA ran one of the country's most successful CDBG-DR home buyer assistance programs. We began administering the program in a Midwest city in early 2014, and our team implemented highly successful operational efficiencies, enabling the city to provide more than $12 million of assistance for nearly 500 closings.

What is CDBG-DR?

Flexible grants to help cities, counties, and states recover from disasters

CDBG-DR is a program through HUD that provides flexible grants to help cities, counties, and states recover from disasters, especially in low-income areas.

In response to disasters, Congress may devote additional funding for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program as disaster recovery grants to rebuild the affected areas and provide money to start the recovery process. Through CDBG disaster recovery (CDBG-DR) assistance, HUD helps communities and neighborhoods that otherwise might not recover due to limited resources.

Recovering from a Disaster

Disasters occur with frequency

In recent years, we've seen disasters occur at greater frequency and magnitude than the United States has previously experienced. Affected communities find themselves competing for scarce recovery resources and staff.

When that happens, your community needs a partner who understands how to leverage and apply all available funding sources. Our team has decades of expertise in redevelopment and HUD program management funded with highly restricted state and federal funds, including HOME, NSP, and CDBG. We're experienced in infrastructure, affordable housing, business district revitalization, federal real estate, sustainable development, disaster recovery services, and grant compliance and monitoring tools.

Making the Most of Funding

Our CDBG team has a deep understanding of all federal entities, and we will ensure that your community has access to all available funds. Some potential grant resources include:

With decades of experience in winning federal grant funds for clients, NMA can guide your community through the development and use of waivers, action plans, and action plan amendments. And we'll leverage a comprehensive program integrity system to ensure that you keep whatever funds you are awarded.
